Lamar was a two-year starter for James Madison University after transferring from Syracuse University. An All-CAA selection in 2011, Lamar finished his senior campaign with an impressive 10 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and 5 sacks from his defensive tackle position. Against William and Mary, Lamar shredded the Tribe offensive line for a season-high 8 tackles and 2 sacks. He spearheaded a defense ranked #2 in the CAA in 2010 and #8 nationally. He finished his career with 64 tackles while leading James Madison to the FCS playoffs in 2011. Lamar’s quickness and elite speed allowed him to constantly maneuver around blocks and disrupt offenses in the backfield and make life easier for his linebackers. A defensive tackle that possesses terrific pass rushing skills, Lamar is versatile enough to play all over the defensive line in any defensive scheme. Lamar is an absolutely shredded 6’2” and 285 lbs. With NFL teams focusing on overall team speed on their defensive units, Lamar exemplifies that by containing the ability to use his lateral quickness to make plays in the backfield and chase down ball carriers from sideline to sideline. His powerfully built frame allows him to employ bull rush moves over offensive linemen while also showcasing the agility to beat them with his speed off the ball. Lamar exhibits great technique using his hands effectively to shed blocks and make plays.
